T O P I C R E V I E WLauraNew home owner of an older home in Palm Bay,FL.....Needs help with sandy soil and burrs in frontyard and "hitchhikers" in backyard. Right now, the weeds look great and what little grass there is looks dead. Scared to spray weed killer in case I burn the lawn ( have seen others ..looks horrible!) Should I seed...Plug...Sod? Was curious about Zoysia grass..kaokiheilaura, Sounds just like my place, I bought it fixed the irrigation and tried to get the grass to turn green and the weeds of at least 10 different varieties over took my yard. I killed everything off with roundup at least twice. I let it dry to a crisp and dug up every weed in it. I was ready to pave the place when somebody told me about seashore paspalum. It grows well in soil that is 50% or more sand. I started with a couple of runners(stolons) and to control the weeds until it was established I bought rock salt(for water softeners) made a solution and sprayed the entire yard (grass area only, salt can kill almost anything) weeds and other varieties of grasses dehydrate real quick but the seashore paspalum lives on. now I have a lush lawn that feels real good between my toes
